Eagle Rock School Program

The average school age child spends about 17% of his time in school. For most children school is the number one source of socialization – good or bad.

Eagle Rock has developed a unique education system which has proven to be a very effective program for dealing with the type of clientele Eagle Rock accepts, best described as “Exceptionally Distressed”.

Many prior to coming to Eagle Rock have attended public schools and have been labeled “special education” students. Eagle Rock’s education system does not utilize this label and does not permit students to use it as an excuse for poor performance.

Through Pathway Academy, Eagle Rock provides a specialized on campus school in which children receive the individualized attention they need to reach their full potential. Children who are not on grade level are not socially promoted. Instead, they are challenged and given the opportunity to learn the skills they likely missed during turbulent times in their past. Children who have behavioral problems are taught in a small classroom using state of the art techniques. The teacher:child ratio is usually 1:2.
Classes are held year round and students are not graded on how much time they spend but rather how much they accomplish. Hard working students get a summer vacation while lazy students do not.

Eagle Rock understands that all children learn differently and some are “hands-on” learners instead of academias. For this reason some children are matched with vocational opportunities and technical college training in place of the classroom. This is facilitated through connections with employers as well as the local technical college.

Finally, for those who excel and prove themselves worthy of the opportunity, Eagle Rock allows students to attend Coosa Christian School. Associated costs are provided by faithful supporters of the ranch. This outstanding school offers a solid academic program in a wholesome environment. Additionally, Eagle Rock children are surrounded by Christian teachers and coaches in a small but supportive environment. Many Eagle Rock boys are involved in the school’s active athletic program.
